My wife loves hostas. They’re virtually indestructible. Of all the hostas we’ve planted, split, and transplanted, I think only one ever died. That’s pretty damn good for us. Therefore we plant them all over the place, especially in the far back yard thats full of big old trees and doesn’t get much sun.
Since Tony and I can’t figure out how to have two users comment on the same blog here is a note from the wife.
I do love Hostas, because they are indestructible. But, I also appreciate the fact that you can buy only a few each year, and at the end of the season split this years, last years, and borrow from other gardens to fill in the back yard which is covered by, as Tony described old oak trees. Nothing will grow on that hill except Hostas, I also planted a coral bell last week, so we will see how she does. So I really love Hostas because I am economical.
