This is the patch abandoned when the previous owner died. In spring 2008, Dominick helped clear the old beds of leaves, weeds and ivy, and Deion took ownership of the plantings. He particularly likes the strawberries, which to him keep having babies.
This year Deion likes the combination of vegetables and flowers. We’re doing a row of broccoli, a row of herbs, a row of Brussels sprouts and then a row of flowers — those that are shade tolerant and don’t mess up the vegetables, since that row is the least sunny.
