My first attempt at growing ,or I suppose “forcing” bulbs indoors.
Apparently, I can be harvesting my own saffron in 6-8 weeks! Yum!
Update: 21 November: No saffron yet. All the bulbs have sprouted. They are quite tall (16" is the tallest) and very green. No flowers yet.
9th Jan 2012—Epic fail. Plants are now starting to die back. Did not flower. I did not provide enough light. Now I suppose it’s time for them to sleep, and I will try again in the Spring! Lesson learned!
15th Jan—I chopped back the dead leaves to about 2 inches from the soil, and put both pots in the little fridge.
