At March 2011, the front verge is a typical suburban Perth verge – grass, sand and not much else. We plan on subtly reclaiming this space (defined as the verge area south of our crossover and boundary fence) for higher and better uses. Unfortunately, we have a Telstra cable that runs approximately 1m from our boundary fence and a drain pipe about halfway along the verge. We had hoped to plant trees here, but don’t want to risk having the council pull them out! Our persimmon trees, moved from our previous house, have been transplanted in between the service corridors in the hope of a workable solution, and we will eventually fill in some of the space with various shrubs. No real plans – yet!
