A 4’ X 10’ area sandwiched between the driveway and the concrete walk up against the front of the house. Hot and sunny. Anchored by a giant quartz boulder about 4’L X 3’W X 3’H. Focal point is a red-leaved contorted filbert. Mixed perennials and annuals within, and an iron arch trellis coming off one side to straddle front walk…a climbing “Joseph’s Coat” rose beginning to grow up that.
As of June first…
Pink peonies, Verbascum “Southern Charm”, Achillea “Summer Berries”, Chinese Lantern, Gaillardia “Goblin”, daffs rotting away (wish they’d hurry the hell up!), “Joseph’s Coat” climbing rose, Zinnia “County Fair”, Celosia (cockscomb) “Red Velvet”, Marigold “Scarlet Starlet” and some big tall neon yellow ones, Sweet Alyssum “Aphrodite”, Mesembranthemum “Sparkles”, one Thunbergia “Blushing Susie”, a couple Morning Glories and a bunch of baby weeds!

the li’l contorted tree is really amazing. it’s so lush – the color is amazing. you do good by it, in my book.
have you given it a name? baby crinkles? twist-n-grow? sally the schizophrenic scarlet?
mine’s just sad lad right now as he’s nowhere near as majestic as yrs. he’s gotta earn a name first.
