I “rent” one of the 30+ plots in a South End community garden. It’s a lot of fun gardening while surrounded by other gardens and gardeners!!

I’m so jealous of your community garden plot! My area doesn’t have many, and they are in high demand.

I moved to Boston last fall, and I couldn’t believe how many community gardens there are here! But they’re in high demand here too; there are 5+ community gardens within a reasonable walk of my apartment, and I was wait-listed on all of them. I ended up getting a plot near where I work, which turns out to be a great arrangement. It’s too bad that community gardens aren’t available everywhere… I like your raised beds. :)

Thanks! There’s a community garden near my work that I might try to get into next year. But it’s the only one in my part of the county, so I’m sure it’s in high demand.
