first bloom 1 Rose garden and Rose 'Holtermann’s Gold' Blooming
The first bloom is magnificent, especially the yellow (Holtermann’s Gold). There appears to be a strong correlation between pruning hard and more bigger blooms.

blooming again Rose 'Kentucky Derby' Blooming and Rose garden
Not sure why I didn’t have a photograph of this rose. It is one of the most prolific in producing flowers and the most scented.

autumn rain Rose 'Oldtimer' Flowering and Rose garden
This rose is glorious when it flowers. The blooms are huge, and so sweet smelling. It was great to work in the Rose garden on the weekend as the scent was very strong.

thickening up 2 Garlic Chives and Rose garden
The plants appeared to have more than survived their attack of the little black bugs. They are thriving and thickening up into healthy looking plants. I may transplant some if the plants get to wide along the path as they will begin to get too close to the trunk of the rose plants.

I transplanted a heap of seedlings to the front verge about this time last year. There are heaps more to move if I want to. They are probably better out of the rose garden as they make the roses quite damp.

deadheading and a bit of a prune Rose garden

    pruned Rose garden
This year I finished pruning took a couple of days, but I finished on 13 July 2007. One of the tools that I found useful was a pruning saw as it meant I could finish the task all by myself. Also, it did mean that branches that I let go the previous year, were pruned with the saw this year.
