So, the rock garden was sortof a gift from my Hubby – when we were in construction I suggested the idea that it be done of rocks we had in the perimeter, in order to stabilize the slope. So we did the groundsworks by the end of 2010.
In 2011. I planted – here and there between rocks – since it is primarily a wall, some Iberis, Vinca minor, Stachys byzantina, nasturtiums which I am to plant this year too, chives, Moroccan mint, Phlox and pansies. Wild pansies appear here, too, and they are more than welcome. So, I always add something new – mostly wildflowers I find in the wild.
This year I did give the area some critical look and figured – the area in front does look rather unfinished – this area connects the terrace and the rock garden and is a sort of a passage. So I started – with my own two hands – making a garden path: I am putting rocks on edges of a path, and will put small stones mixed with sawdust on a path itself – those are the things we have here, so I’m recycling.
One side is done, so I transplanted red chicory and lettuce there.
I’m on the other side now – where I have – next to the terrace fence – 4 raised beds with roses in them.
So, I’ll combine and recycle.
