Prior to moving here, there were 2 20+-year-old apple trees (one Golden Delicious, the other perhaps Granny Smith). They harvest one month apart. There is a 20+-year-old crabapple tree and a 20+-year-old grape vine of unknown variety (purple). There is an unknown variety of pear, about 6 or 7 years’ old. And, an elberta peach about 6 or 7 years’ old. There is another pear tree, which had never produced fruit until this year and we thought it might be a non-bearing variety. Unfortunately, all the fruit was “taken out” by a crop duster flying too low. There are 2 sour plum trees, both 20 years’ old. There is a 20-year-old Mission fig tree. And, there is an 8-year-old gala apple tree. There is a 20-year-old wild cherry tree. All the 20+-year-old trees were planted by my grandmother. The younger trees were planted by my mother. These new plantings were added in October 2010 after I moved in.

crochetkim's Orchard garden is an outdoor garden and is located in MALVERN, United States and currently contains 15 plants.

Situated in a Full Sun position, this Orchard garden is located in USDA Zone 7b.

Welcome to folia. It’s a great site with so many features – I’m still not up to speed on them all – I joined in Feb. Being able to draw on the collective experience of so many real gardeners is so useful – I’m having too many late nights though, being a bit of an info junkie.
Wow – fancy having 13 acres to play with and how lovely to have an orchard with a history. Look forward to following its progress.

It is pretty fun to live out here. I like to call it our little village. I live in this house, my mother lives next door and my grandmother lives on the other side. Every day is an adventure from finding new things (like the abundant wild grape vine we found a couple of days’ ago) to trying to keep my grandmother from running over my garden beds with her hover-round! Yep, just yesterday, she ploughed through some of the poor sedum. LOL It’s my first time having a house and wow! Fun fun! :-) Thanks for writing.
