2009: Pulled out all the sod, finally; replaced with vinca ~ which thrived in a test planting last year … hopefully will do fine all throughout the back yard.
Poppies, rose bush, blueberry bush, and raspberries are all continuing to thrive even though the soil is pretty poor and the sun exposure very strange.
Planted sunflowers this year in attempt to keep side yard pleasant after the spring tulips and June poppies fade.
Also am trying out some broccoli in side yard as it is the one place with pretty decent sun exposure. If they work, next year – or even later this summer, will plant even more food plants over here amid the ground cover.
