Cynvision's Mailbox Butterfly garden

Garden Type: Butterfly | Sun: Full Sun | Soil: Sand

I moved in to this home in 2005. Having something at the curb seemed a good idea. The plants have evolved somewhat as I learned how hot and dry the area gets in summer. It now contains three Lantana and some Gerbera daisy plants. Also in the beds are some Asian lilly but they’re not doing well in 2008.

I settled on Lantana because of the watering issues. Pansy don’t do well after April. I have seen Viola planted at mailboxes that do great all winter but I haven’t tried them. Moss Rose did well in summer in the location but died in winter frosts.
