A box on top the recycled-pallet bike store we had for growing salad crops. In practice, it was not hugely abundant; I think the relatively small soil volume was too prone to drying out and did not allow many of the plants to put down the longer taproots they wanted. Retired in early autumn 2012.

Containing 0 plants, wulf's Edible Green Roof garden is an outdoor garden located in Oxford, United Kingdom and is grown using organic principles.

This Edible garden is located in USDA Zone 8 and has Loam soil with a Full Sun outlook.

Love this, very much the way I garden (to the horror of many of my neighbours) in the face of too many electrical and pipes under much of my garden.

How deep do you have the soil in such raised planters? Mine is only 4" – 5" deep and I think it is too shallow for some of the things I have tried to grow.
