I started wintersowing for the first time in 2011. For the most part it was a success and I was able to have perennials and annuals ready for planting out without having to give up the limited space under my grow lights for the vegetables.
I did more wintersowing in 2012 and again had fairly good results. In 2013 I’m sowing fewer varieties but in larger quantities. Mostly of plants I’ve successfully wintersown & transplanted in previous years. I’m stashing the containers on the mini-greenhouse shelf behind the house (which faces north.)
An indoor organic garden located in North Glengarry, Canada, HazelJ's Wintersowing garden currently contains 3 plants.
This is a Propagator garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 4a. It has mainly Potting Mix soil and receives Partial Sun light.Photos
