This is what used to be the garden plot for the previous owners of the house, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t used the previous year to us moving in just based on the grass and weed growth alone.
In 2008 I dug simple edgings, and this garden housed the corn and the potatoes (and garlic until the workers building the McMansion next door completely killed them because it’s close to the property line).
2009 Plans
I plan on restoring this garden to its former glory, it’s a huge plot and really should be used. It used to be direct sun before the aforementioned McMansion, but now at the peak of summer, gets at most, 4 hours of direct sunlight. Therefore, it’ll be primarily for growing lettuces, some herbs, beets, potatoes, and perhaps some squash.

I have a similar garden plot here. We’ve only just moved in over the winter and I’m considering my options. Use the former garden plot which is actually on a town easement, not on our property, or start one in our own yard?
I don’t want to put a lot of money into fixing it up, only to find that they decide to build a road through there in two years time…But…I would get my investment back anyway, just in the produce I was able to grow there, so, decisions, decisions…
I think I need to post this dilemma somewhere (as a poll?) and see what others would do?
