Going to put all my saintpaulia under one garden so I can track them more easily – especially once the cuttings I have finally take off.

Located in Camelon, United Kingdom, avisrapax's African Violet garden is an indoor garden that currently contains 95 plants.

This is a Indoor garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 8. It has mainly Peat soil and receives Indoor light.

I’d love to trade some leaves with you, but I’m sure the US Customs Dept would have their knickers in a twist! Your success with leaf propagation is impressive. I’ve done a few, but it is really hit or miss. I have managed to only keep one baby plantlet alive to full growth stage out of maybe 5 or so. Of course, I don’t put the leaves down on any grand scale. Just a few every now and then, mostly when I’m repotting and pruning.

It’s such a shame that sending things between the US and UK is a pain – it’d open a much wider world of plant-swapping! I’d love to be able to send some leaves back and forth. I don’t really have a great rate of propagation, to be honest, I just tend to plant up a lot of leaves – though I think my east-facing window really helped last year with my spring planted batch =)

Thought I’d check in on your progress… WoW! You’ve added quite a few since I last looked. Some of them sound lovely, can’t wait to see them bloom. Just noticed a new bud on one of my ne’er-befores – looks white. I do hope my Ballet Snowcone looks as good as yours!

My Ballet Snowcone has actually started to bloom yet again – it’s very keen to keep going! It is also one of the fastest I’ve got in my collection from ‘almost peeking above a leaf’ to ‘full flower stalk, bud open’ – about a week compared to some I have which take well over a month =o I hope yours are as vigorous when they come up and that they flower for ya soon _

Well, well, well! I see you have branched out into other gesneriads with a vengeance! :) LOL And you have added quite a number of AVs to your collection. We have quite a few in common. I’m heading in the direction of vintage violets now, trying to save them for future generations!

Hehe yep, I’ve branched out – I became a member of the Gesneriad Society and it sort of went a bit outta control, hehe. Most of them are just tiny seedlings for the moment, though – I have no idea where I’ll put them once they’re grown =D I had to restock my collection after the mitepocalypse and found a vendor selling leaves in Europe of varieties that I couldn’t get before so I may have gone a little happy-spendy _; I’m not sure if I’ll keep them all – I’m determined this time to ditch any that don’t like my growing conditions. That said I uh… have trouble throwing out any AV…

It’s cool if you can get some of the vintage ones – it’d be nice to see some of them become more common again!
