Instead of filling a true raised bed (and thereby burying the house foundation), I’m putting in tire planters. I experimented a little with it last year, and it worked well.

This year, I hope to actually get around to cutting out the sidewalls and inverting the tires, so my potatoes and tomatoes don’t have whitewalls.
