The backyard has been reclaimed from the grass. I won’t say successfully reclaimed, because it is still threatened by quack grass, which I will eventually beat down. Until then, at least it’s not lawn. It is primarily a squash patch. It is centered on a compost pile or several that move about the yard off season then get split off into squash beds when summer rolls around. In addition to squash, it has various beneficial plants to enhance squash production.
