Partially a garden of containers on the patio and steps, and also a three level terraced area sloping away from the brick building.
The upper areas will tend to be hotter since they are against brick and cement, water will tend to roll down the slope, and most areas of this garden get full sun during a good chunk of the day.
The downspout comes through two areas of the front, meaning that there are some channels of very wet area that I probably won’t want to grow food crops in (because of crud coming off the roof).
Overall, this small space is difficult to access and the space is weirdly divided/terraced by single rows of large rocks. However, I plan to get some food gardening going in this area next spring and see what I can do with the space. After a soil test, I found that the soil is pretty lacking in nutrients and organic matter, and may have some trace pollution lingering. Hopefully some intensive gardening and composting can bring life back into the space.
I would eventually like to put in a small cold frame on the upper area for winter gardening. Right now I have garlic and shallots in that spot, and they seem to be doing ok.
