I have been working on this garden for 3yrs and it is always changing like any garden. I planted two trees two yrs ago a purple rain and a russian olive. The russian is doing good but the purple rain is not much more than a twig. I am in a new area that doesnt have much shelter so the poor trees get lots of wind. I did have them staked the first two winters. I have lots of perenials around them such as lambs ear,ribbon grass,zebra grass,wild daisies[which think they own the yard],lilacs, cottonasters,lillies,irises,sedum,johnny jumpups,little larches,chives,yarrow,bleeding hearts,hostas,maltese crosses,peonies,snow on the mountain,goutweed[which I like]and some other plants I cant remember the names right now.I like to garden and its a good stress releiver.
