Most of these plants came with the house. Some of it is laid out pretty nicely, as in the photo, whereas other parts are kind of… “WTF?” We still don’t know what the previous owners were thinking when they put in the exponentially-expanding yucca that’s smack-dab in the middle of the front bed, or why they sandwiched a gorgeous Japanese maple between a giant, similarly-colored barberry and a burgeoning pine.

Eventually, the city is going to eat most of this bed and put in sidewalk. I’d like to see them take on the yucca.
