South-facing flower bed directly in front of the house, west of the front door. Heavily shaded most of the day by a very large Oak Tree in front edge of lawn down by Drain Tile Garden. Some eastern sun in the morning. Planter was made with wood timbers which are now starting to rot, but still holds in the soil. I am not interested at this time with redoing the planter structure, just prettying it up some. Cannot plant in this flower bed yet, as we are having the roof redone soon. Soil in planter came directly from a farmer’s field(my man, Jack’s old farm) many years ago and has absolutely terrible drainage. Covered in dandelions at this time, my plan is to add some of our “wonderful” river bottom sand to it and attempt to end up with some half-way decent planting medium. But right now, I’m so busy planting everywhere else that I’ve just let the dandelions grow:)
