It started out as a rose garden but six years of neglect while my children were babies was hard on it. Right now, there are only five rose bushes, two of which probably need to be shovel pruned due to understock takeover. The successful survivors are Miss All American Beauty, an unnamed grocery store mini and my new acquisition, Mary Rose.
Also in the garden is a purple clematis on its third year, a pink peony on its fourth year in that location, a mini azalea, shasta dasies, liriope, iris, tiger lilly, iris, gladiola and various spring bulbs.
Right now the main goal is to eradicate the bermuda grass and blackberry brambles. Oooh, I hate them so! Why can’t the blackberries grow out by the compost pile? I’d be willing to pick berries from there instead of my deck any day.
