This garden is a part of the Frontyard Xeriscape garden that is all about creating my own little mini desert garden. It is on the south side of the sandstone path that we put in, and ends as it nears the Cherry Plum, which I’ve named as part of the Woodland garden. There’s overlap physically of course, but I’m naming the plants that I consider to be a part of the actual Desert garden in this place.
History: This is going to be a trickier area of the garden to work on this year since we had two previously established planting beds that have now expanded into one huge planting area. Getting rid of nearly 2/3 of our lawn in the front and putting a small sandstone path running out to the sidewalk was the summer 2009 project. Now it’s time to see what plants we want to save, move, or get rid of from the existing beds. The Paperbark Maple and Cherry Plum are staying in place, but everything else is up in the air at the moment. When the snow finally decides to stop falling, it will be time to transplant what I want to keep. Some of the existing plants might move to the parking strip garden.
Containing 16 plants, Sutton's Desert garden is an outdoor garden located in Salt Lake City, United States.
This is a Frontyard garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 6. It has mainly Combination soil and receives Full Sun light.Photos
