4 × 12 raised bed constructed of fir treated with linseed oil. It stands 8" high, but I dug the soil down 10" – 12" and added organic garden mix soil amended with peat moss and dolomite lime. During the growing season I use a homemade organic fertilizer (Steve Solomon’s recipe) and mulch with my own compost. We compost our food scraps and yardwaste. We have compost bins and worm bins.
I salvaged some wire fencing from another area of the property and tacked it from the back of the bed up to the deck above. It’s probably about 10’ or so high. I trellis my peas and cucumbers on it. I have cut out the wire in places oin the backside so I can reach the soil as well as harvest the veggies.
For a cloche, my husband drilled holes into the top of the bed that we fit pvc pipe into on each side and then we can clamp poly or bird netting as needed to turn for which I use large metal binder clips.
The pic shows it with the poly cloche on – keeping the soil warm and the heavy rains out until my peas have a chance to sprout.
