Summer 2011
Tomatoes, Peppers
Fall/winter 2010
Lettuce. Spinach. Chard. W/greenhouse cover. BIG SUCCESS – Lettuce and Chard grew all winter, only dying when we had a 2 week stretch of below freezing weather in late January. The spinach grew very slowly enough to add to salads & soups, but not enough for large servings until weather started warming up end of Feb. Then tripled in size. Freeze did not affect it.
Summer 2010 – Sweet Potato plant – FAILED. Tomatoes – planted in July. Harvested green.
Spring 2010 – potato attempt: Red La Soda and Kennebec – FAILED. Plants grew, I added soil, plants died.
Garden has a layer of weed barrier down above the sod.
Layer of hay. I know I’m asking for trouble, but I just cannot find straw and these bales are being sold for next to nothing because they were end of season and damaged by weather.
Sprinkling of organic fertilizer, bone meal and blood meal. Layer of compost. Layer of garden soil / compost mix.
An outdoor organic garden located in Wylie, United States, SerenDippity's Square Bed #4 garden currently contains 4 plants.
This is a Raised Bed garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 8. It has mainly Combination soil and receives Full Sun light.Photos
