This bed is located to the side of the shed, near the Crape Myrtles. It gets very little light and stays moist, even with little rain.
I wanted ONE bed that looked decent, when I first started working on the yard, and this was the one that was elected. It was already there, but it was filled with weeds. I weeded it, threw in some baby-in-a-bad hostas and a few handfuls of caladium, and that was that.
It looked good all summer with no work, and it was the official ‘comfort garden’ when I started getting exasperated with the rest of the yard. Simple but effective. Later in the summer, when I was in full swing, I ripped out the landscape timbers that were riddled with former termite nests and put my faux rocks as the edging.
