graibeard's Pantry garden

Garden Type: Cellar | Sun: Don't Know | Soil: Don't Know

A place to store the preserved harvests. Most will be eaten fresh from the vine and never make it inside, others will make it inside as far as the table. This is the place for the excess, the bottling, pickling and freezing.
The majority of our preserving is done using the old water bath method made by Fowlers Vacola The common jars can still be bought new 31, 36, 20 & 27 but the smaller 3, 10, 41, 65’s are no longer in production and if you are lucky they can be sourced second hand. We use stainless steel lids as they are reusable compared to the old plated steel ones, rubber rings are sourced as new each time.
The company has been bought and sold that many times that it is not funny, thankfully they are still obtainable as of 2009. We have in fact bought direct from the supplier at (hmm, where was that?)
