puu's sixty-fifth street garden

there’s a sizeable triangle of landscaping on the streetside of our apartment building, maybe 100 square feet. largely occupied by obnoxious junipers, there is also some rosemary, lavender, lemon balm, and space for me to add some edible plants without anyone taking notice. I hope.

on the other side of the parking lot, under the stairs, there’s a small bed that I think will be perfect for an Opuntia of some sort. it’ll have to compete with another juniper, but I can slowly prune that smaller and smaller as the cactus gets larger.

around the corner is a small bed in between two juniper hedges. there’s a sickly rose growing in the middle of it, but plenty of space for some groundcovers and more useful flowers.

I’ll share the produce with other folks, particularly the apartment manager, to reduce the chances someone will be upset if they do notice. a brief examination suggests the soil is in reasonable shape. let’s get started…
