This garden is a new project. My eldest lives out in a caravan between the house, fence and our garage (when she is home). There isn’t much room to move around the van but it is a very plain area and needs some soul and character.
I think two approaches will work best:
Firstly, planting are the small area now occupied be grassy weeds with a creeping fragrant ground cover (Thyme perhaps).Secondly, setting up a series of containers at different height in order to relieve the starkness of the space and to make the view from inside the van more pleasant. :)

Have you thought about some chamomile, its quite nice smelling when you walk on it. Not only it makes quite a nice tea during summer.

I think of it as a tricky spot… The conditions have been changed completely by parking the caravan there. In Summer it’s a bit of a sun trap… and in Winter it’s mostly in shade, but sheltered by our neighbour’s fence, our brick (house) wall and the van.
I’m concerned about the Winter conditions… I’m not sure what will thrive in those shaded, sheltered and slightly damp & humid conditions.

I am in BC, zone 5b, and thyme does well here getting sun and rather dry conditions during the summer (it’s planted among flagstones), decidedly wet and humid conditions in spring and fall, winter it’s under snow – not a problem for you I think! Almost any of the woody herbs should do well in dry, hot summer conditions.
