Poetinwood's Frontyard garden

This is an acre of land that used to be grazing for horses not that long ago, so it’s pretty well packed down. What’s worse the bedrock is rather shallow in places to 1’ down. Caveat emptor. It has lots of wonderful Oklahoma wildflowers from Indian Paintbrushes to masses of Black-eyed Susans, green Asclepias. It also has a grass, watergrass my neighbor calls it, that is far worse than any crabgrass I’ve dealt with. It clumps so thick it gets hard to mow with the tractor. I’ve been trying to plant trees here for years, but the Barred Owls use them to spy for rats in the yard and always break the limbs. I’ve yet to devise a workable solution. I like the owls.
