This is my first ‘real’ garden, so I’m pretty darn new to all this.
I bought green onion seeds at the beginning of 2009, and planted them. They’ve done pretty well, and since then I have also added a few more green onions (not from seed, but rather I cut off the root/bottom part of store-bought green onions and planted and they grew new onions quite quickly.)
I have carrots growing, not from seed, they were starters given to me by someone. They are still VERY tiny and I will probably end up composting them now.
I had a yellow squash and zucchini plant starters given to me by the same person as the carrots, they have since wilted and died with the first frost. Yellow squash produced many yellow flowers and a few tiny squashes, but all got infected and went away. I will not compost, just in case they are diseased.
I have planted garlic mid-October 2009, 20 cloves divided into 2 rows. First time gorwing garlic :)
I have two small butter lettuce plants, these were also given to me by the same person mentioned above. Not really big enough to make a salad or antyhing out of, except perhaps to add to a burger. Will try to grow better/bigger lettuce heads in 2010.
I have one very small artichoke plant that I purchased from my work’s student garden club. It has yet to grow at all since I bought it and planted it. Not sure what to do :/
I had one small cucumber plant, that produced 2 small cukes, then once I moved it next to a trellis, it completely died. Go figure. I will try again in 2010.
I use only organic gardening soil, and will be building my own compost tumbler soon (hopefully with worms!), I don’t know the status of the previous soil in the ground, as I am renting the house, but I do not think the landlord used organic anything in the ground. Hopefully I can change that!

Welcome to folia!! It sounds as though you have had a pretty satisfying first year!! It also looks as though you have found your way around here pretty well, so the only thing that I have to offer at this moment is my seeds. :) If you are interested in anything, give me a yell! :)
Don’t forget to check out the groups pages!!
And Happy Gardening!!
