LaurCar's Philly Backyard Vegtable garden

Garden Type: Backyard | Sun: Partial Sun | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

Our Philly soil is fairly rocky and somewhat clayish, with the garden receiving full to partial sun.

My husband and I have a lot of experience with herbs and flowers, grown with direct soil gardening and in containers.

There is a side bed running the length of the house we use for cutting flowers and a slopping garden bed in the front of the house (also for flowers). We do some container gardening on our front steps for herbs.

In 2008 we will be growing veggies for the 1st time in our (large by city standards) backyard. We are planning to grow them in raised beds. The backyard is long and narrow, surrounded by a chain link fence, with 1 large oak tree right smack in the middle.
