We have a lot of rain and humidty during the wet season, so I wanted to create a space for herbs that liked it a bit drier. I built a rock herb spiral about six months ago and on the whole have been very happy with it. I have created an arch for the passionfruit vine to clamber over, giving some protection from the full sun. the only probelm I have is the cane toads, that keep digging into it and creating an empty void in the middle. So I have to keep poking holes and then filling it up with compost. Not sure how I can (or should) seal all the holes. I am hoping as more plants grow that the centre will be filled with roots and the toads wont want to go there anymore.

Welcome to Folia.
It looks like you’ve got the hang of creating gardens and adding plantings which is good to see. We hope you stick around to discover and utilize more of the site, there is plenty here to see.
It’s an interesting problem you have with the Cane toads, it’s not something we mexicans have to think about much. We hope it remains that way too.
Personally, I look forward to reading more about your tropical adventures and I’m sure others will too.

Welcome to Folia!! I saw your little post about dill. :) You have a lot of things growing in your herb garden. Do you use your stevia as an alternative to sugar, or is it strictly for asthetics?
I am trying to picture your garden, but I am having a bit of a hard time…when you get a moment, could you upload some pics of it? Also, I had a suggestion about the toad problem. Would it possibly help to plant a ground cover? Or perhaps mulch the area with a heavy layer of wood chips? Or decorative rock?

Thanks for the welcomes! Still trying to find my way around, but have discovered how to add photos so they will be forthcoming. I have been trying to fill up any holes with compost or potting soil – they seem to like the crusher dust I orginally had in the centre, so as I fill it up I am filling the small entry holes with smaller stones.. Interesting remark about the ground cover – I do have some peppermint that has started spreading over the one side. The thyme and oregano are also spreading so maybe they will help as well.

Good! I hope so! We have some sort of toad or frog here that gives off a poisonous residue. It appears that there are only two types here, and they look almost identical. The kids know that they are off limits, and we let them live in our gardens because they help with bugs. But sometimes they can become a pest as in your case. Looking forward to updates!!
