Africanaussie's bird and butterfly garden

Garden Type: Backyard | Sun: Full Sun | Soil: Sand I'm Organic!

This is an area along the back fence that transitions from the tropical garden into the vegetable and herb garden. It is really the only spot that gets full sun all day. I have an arch over which mandevilla and passionfruit are growing. There is a birdbath, and I am trying to grow lots of flowering plants there that attract birds and butterflies.

Hi yes we seem to be in the same type of climate. I dont know what the plant is you are referring to – it doesnt come up under a search – do you have a photo? It seems to be a type of iris? the row of strappy leaf plants in the front are amayrillus, or hippeastrum. they should start flowering soon and then I will post some photos.
