We have a country house which is called “Mäntylä” and friends of my husband gave it english name “Pine hill”. In my garden grows many perennials and bulbs. Irises are my favourite. I am interested in iris species and I have tested many of them. There is also some finnish apple, cherry and plum tree varieties in my garden. Under the fruit trees grows vinca minor, hepatica nobilis, anemone nemorosa and a lot of daffodils.
Flowers like foxgloves, lilium martagon, campanula persifolia, campanula latifolia and verbascum sow themselves around garden. I let them be because they are so beatiful.
The best part of the garden is behind our house. Usually guests don´t see it. Only people who are interested in gardening walk around the house and see the garden. In front of the house don´t grow any garden plants because of removing snow at winter. Snow covers my perennials and bulbs so well that they don´t mind when it is sometimes 36 degrees below zero.
