I have a thing for heirloom veges and my partner keeps buyng fruit trees & shrubs. We love being able to got out and pick our dinner each night.
We’ve been building our garden from a fairly blank canvas after buying our 600msq property in October last year (2010), that’s spring here in NZ.
One of the first things we did was plant some fruit trees and we’ve gradually been building raised beds and trying to turn our sandy soils into good growing medium.
It’s work in progress, but we’re getting there slowly.
We wouldn’t call ourselves organic gardeners but we use chemicals reluctantly and only after we’ve explored the practical organic opttions.
