Two days of rain, garden went bonkers

I can’t believe what’s happened in just three days. We got two days of light rain and then a sunny warm day and the garden just went mad with growth. The most noticeable was lavender, it’s grown about 6-8". Even some california poppy seeds I sowed on the 12th are already po...

    Begone rains...

So we’ve had nearly two days of rain. That should give a punch to the garden especially since I’ve killed the majority of the snails. I can’t wait to see how things have gotten on.

    Mystery Identity #1

    Victorian garden
I’m hoping someone can help me identify this plant. It just lays there in 1/2 sun and crawls low to the ground with its feathery foliage. I’ve never seen it bloom, and it seems to be relatively drought tolerant. That’s about all I know. Does anyone know what it is?

    Bloomin!

Fescue, Blue (N) Flowering and Victorian garden
I noticed today that some of the fescue have tossed out flowering stems and are ready to go. Yay! Maybe I can gather some seed this year.

    Invisible Suspects

    Victorian garden
Unfortunately, where I planted this the kids seem to be using it as a shortcut. Someone shuffled right on top of it and snapped off the bud stalk in the middle of the rosette. Now I’ve no idea what it’s going to do. It’s just laying there in suspended animation. sigh

Breaking up is hard to do.

    Cigar Plant and Victorian garden
This plant has been doing great. Sending out new full, thick leaves in nice, full rosettes of deep green. The only problem is, where it’s planted the kids are using it as a shortcut and have broken off the top branch and one of the lower rosettes of leaves. Essentially they halved it. This...

    Getting ready for transplant

California Wildflowers (N) and Victorian garden
I’ve already dug a few up and transferred them to other areas, but this is the main bunch. As you can see their differentiation is more apparent. Most of the seedlings are CA poppies, clarkias and a couple of lupins. They haven’t been thinned and that’s by design. Poppies are no...
