Copper Spray Otra Vez 2 Apple 'Yellow Newtown Pippin' Flowering, Apple 'Hauer Pippin' , Apple 'Belle de Boskoop' , and Medlar 'Nott...
Another break in the rain means another spritz with copper. I hit everything I could see. The Newtown Pippin has set some fruit but also has some set fruit. The Hauer Pippin may have some set fruit but it’s not looking good.

Budget: Replacements 2 The Waiting Room garden
Some seedlings I planted didn’t survive various calamities. Some starts I bought didn’t survive (the lemon cuke was devoured by molluscs). So today I reluctantly spent more $ to replace things or get things I’ve been after. No luck finding Pepperoncini starts (good lord, they ha...

    Teensy Sprouts Irish Moss Sprouting
As befits the microscopic seeds, the sprouts themselves are so small it’s easy to miss them. I didn’t bother trying to take a picture. I don’t think my macro mode could handle something that small.

Fireblight Fighting Party in the Back garden , European Pear 'Comice' Pruning, Apple 'Yellow Newtown Pippin' Flowering, Apple '...
I was told that when it’s fireblight weather conditions, you should nip out and spray during any decent length period when the rain stops. I managed to dig up the copper spray I was sure I’d bought before, thus saving having to spend precious $ on it now. Mixed some up and sprayed the...

Precautions, Maybe Paranoid? Loquat 'Champagne' Pruning
Since finding out that fireblight can affect loquats too, I wondered whether what I’d diagnosed as sunburn was really fireblight. I figured I needed to prune the loquat to stimulate growth in a denser shape anyway, so I erred on the side of caution. 3 major branches pruned off. Need to watc...

Second One Popped 'New England Pie' Pumpkin Sprouting
Got a little leggy before I could get it outside. It sprouted possibly a full week behind the other one.

Don't Count Your Chickens 2 1 Sweet Cherry 'Minnie Royal' and Party in the Back garden
Great bloom. Very good fruit set. Slugs started to eat. Worried about birds so I bought bird netting. Today I went out to find many of the fruits had split! I’ll have to write to the nursery to see if that’s something this cultivar is known for or what. I ate two of the split ones. Th...

In Flower For a While 1 2 Dwarf Lingonberry 'Minus' Flowering
I thought I’d taken a picture of when it first started to bloom this year but I guess I didn’t. It’s been in bloom for a couple weeks. It’s very small (smaller than it was when it was planted, due to bad siting by the landscaper) so it’s not bloom after bloom, but th...

I went out to take pictures of the blossoms and found one had already set fruit and really taken off.
