First Up, First Out 1 2 Sunflower 'Edible Snack Seed' Flowering
The one that germinated first still has that head start. It is on the way to fully open.

Freak Early Bloom! 2 Chrysanthemum 'Fred Mudd' Blooming
Chrysanthemums bloom in response to there being fewer daylight hours. Daylight hours are lengthening right now. So why the bloom? Who knows.

Yet More Fireblight European Pear 'Comice' Pruning
So sad. Yet more showing up. It’s past the point where new infection sites will come (unless it rains again) but with time symptoms show up for infections that weren’t visible or were questionable before. Lost 2 more set fruit today because an infection was close enough to them that I...

Starting to Really Produce Raspberry 'Else's Choice' Harvesting
This has been producing a couple raspberries per week for a couple weeks but today was the first day that I saw deep inside what is becoming a “thicket” of raspberries and seeing that there are raspberries I’m missing. It’s not yet producing more than I can eat just being ...

Lawn Gone To Seed 1 Party in the Back garden
I haven’t made Folia entries for my lawn because it’s composed of a couple species and the company doesn’t tell you which they are. Some sort of fescue for sure. Anyway, at least one of those species has gone to seed right now. I think another one may have kicked it off a couple...

Coming Back From The Brink 3 Australian Finger Lime Budding
I have drip irrigation in my front and back yards. I don’t know how it happened, but a couple “circuits” got broken. So for months this wasn’t getting water. It was already a pretty small plant, overshadowed by the bamboo and rose next to it. And the various follies that g...

First Fully Open 1 Bush Bean 'Royal Burgundy' Flowering
Because of their purple color, the blooms have been noticeable for a week or more. But today is the first day I’ve seen one fully open.

Sprouting 1 Fava Beans Sprouting and The Waiting Room garden
They actually started cresting the surface the day before yesterday but today is the first day I’ve seen something so far above “ground” that I could call it a sprout. I’ve never grown fava beans before. I got these seeds from a CRFG member. The seeds are so big that IR...

Deadheading Did Some Good 1 Rose 'Angel Face' Flowering and Rugosa Rose 'Wild Spice' Flowering
‘Angel Face’ is blooming again after I deadheaded the bush. The bush is beleaguered, though. Last year it seems to have caught a bad rust infection. From what I’ve read, there’s no curing that, only managing it. ‘Wild Spice’ is in bloom as well. I don’t d...
