Finally Getting Some Take Tomato 'Mamma Mia' Setting Fruit
The CCSF tomatoes showed fruit first but since they were raised in a greenhouse, the flowers could have been pollinated there. The Mamma Mia is the first tomato to fruit in my yard, meaning nights are finally warm enough to ensure pollination.

Deeper Color - Full Ripeness Sweet Cherry 'Minnie Royal' Harvesting
I ate the ones that I could salvage when they were bright red but these ones left on the tree grew much darker. I couldn’t eat them because they were all gotten by opportunists (fungus, ants, maggots) that took advantage of the splits caused by the rain. I tried to pick most of them off tod...

Yay! 2 Strawberry 'Mara des Bois' Flowering
I didn’t get to taste any of these fruits last year. The one or two fruits I had disappeared. They looked as if they were picked but it’s next to impossible that that could have happened. Well, flowers likely mean fruit. I hope I can save them from the slugs that have attacked the res...

3-Leaved! 3 Sunflower 'Edible Snack Seed' Showing True Leaves
It was weird enough that this thing had 3 cotyledons but I didn’t expect it to continue when it got its true leaves!

Second Wind 2 Strawberry 'Lipstick' Flowering
I think I was only able to harvest one strawberry off of this because the slugs got at the rest. This plant was looking really haggard for a while but it’s looking better now.

Mystery Solved 2 Sunflower 'Edible Snack Seed'
I was wondering what was going at these leaves. I had a hard time believing it was slugs. Today I saw the culprit: a bird. I couldn’t get a good look at the bird but birds of the same size I’ve seen at other times hanging out around this area are the Lesser Goldfinch and one that migh...

Booted Out 2 Snow Pea 'Carouby de Maussane' Planting Out and The Waiting Room garden
Managed to get them all in the ground today. Some are near the existing stand of snow peas and others are in the northwestern raised bed near the peppers. I remembered to toss some Sluggo ’round them when I saw that one of the sprouts had been nibbled to the ground by molluscs even when it ...
