Elephant Hearts Asian Plum Hybrid 'Elephant Heart' Harvesting
They seem to be dropping before full ripeness. I’ve gotten out of the daily gardening habit partly because I know I can’t keep the garden. My desire to invest is lower. But not going out daily means that windfalls are certainly scarfed up by slugs. The greengages are looking kinda non...

End of One, Start of Another Asian Plum Hybrid 'Elephant Heart' Harvesting and Apricot 'Royal' Harvesting
Small Blenheim/Royal harvest this year but the largest specimens I’ve ever grown. Only had 2 left on the tree and was waiting for them to get fully ripe. Today I went out and none were on the tree. If they land on the ground, various species of slug go right to work. Found one on the ground...

Tomatoes! 3 Happy Tomato 'Koralik' Harvesting, Tomato 'One' Harvesting, and Tomato 'White Currant' Harvesting
Various tomatoes are starting to bear. They’re not truly in swing yet but only a couple weeks more and they should be. Amazing how long it takes! We have good temperate weather and can plant more months of the year than many places, but the need for having nighttime temps at 55F or above fo...

Well, It's Settled 6 Unhappy Party in the Back garden and Business in Front garden
I visited my parents a week or so ago. We finally had the talk about whether I could really make this house work financially and I had to say I didn’t think it was likely I could (in this economy, anyway). So the house is going on the market in Fall. The advantages and disadvantages are div...

Shy but Ornamental? 1 Snow Pea 'Carouby de Maussane' Flowering and The Waiting Room garden
I wanted this variety so badly because of its purple flowers. But it hides the flowers pretty well so it makes me wonder what the point of it is. The snow peas are pretty good-tasting but Taichung 13 is a bit tastier/better texture.

I'm Late...I'm Late... 1 Party in the Back garden
I’m behind on everything. I’ve taken some pictures but haven’t tagged and uploaded them to Flickr. I hate when I fall behind because I forgot observations I’ve made to go along with the pictures. Anyway, the birds have discovered the ‘Pakistan’ mulberries and ...

How Much Does It Suck? A Fair Amount 3 European Pear 'Comice' Pruning
I’m exhausted today but made myself go check the plants before taking a nap that would likely have me waking up after sundown. Despite all my pro-active pruning, I spotted more fireblight. I lost a lot of older wood today and one more pear. The pear crop this year, had there not been fireb...

Oldest Seeding, Younger Still Flowering 1
Sunflowers last a lot longer than most flowers. They’re good candidates for time lapse photography but I don’t have that technical capability.

Fruit Coming Along Loquat 'Champagne' Fruiting
I had to cut off a number of burned (possibly fireblighted) fruit. These have some burns but seem okay. Which means the burns may have been sunburn after all.
