I’m a new urban gardener, planting veggies and herbs on the south-facing balcony of my apartment near downtown Seattle. Last year I had small strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes, and lots of basil, rosemary, chives and mint. I’m branching out this year to sugar snap peas, zucchini, edamame and potatoes. I might even get some pea-patch area in a friend’s yard!
For now, I’m starting from seed and helping things along with a LED light grow box in my living room until it’s warm enough outside to transplant or direct sow. I really have to keep myself from diving in and going all out with grandiose plans, but I’m excited to grow some of my favorite things.
(All my latest pictures are from my cellphone, because I can’t find my camera. Alas.)
I work nights as a 911 dispatcher, and in my spare time I perform (and occasionally write) music, hang out with friends, explore my city, and love to cook.
