    My Crinum Collection

Tinkering down in the basement early this morning, I made an inventory of the crinums I am growing. Some of them has bloomed and some has not. This journal will be my reference in case tags disappear from the containers. Ellen Bosanquet Elizabeth Traub Herbertii Moorei album Powellii Powellii ...

Crinums, Irises and Hostas (Oh My!) :)

The eleven huge pots of crinums were moved from the garage to the basement. The fifty or so pots of irises and 6 pots of Hosta Lemon Lime were moved to the garage. They will be staying in there for the duration of winter.

    Planted Lilies

The weather is considerably mild. I have been procrastinating to plant the four lily bulbs I bought from the Iowa Regional Lily Society. Today, I was so glad they were finally planted out. OT American Flame and Brian Bergman’s Orange Trumpet Seedling were planted side by side. Asiatic Da...

    Update On My Paperwhites

Yesterday, I brought the pot upstairs after spending almost a month in the basement. What a month it is as the leaves and flower stalks have grown. I poured a little amount of Brandy not vodka as what people had advised. Adding liqour will prevent them from growing too tall. This is the first...

    Irises in the Mailbox Garden

I spent almost all day today cleaning up the garden. Since I do not have a written journal for the irises I planted here, I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and jot down the names written on the tags before calling it a day. Conjuration Vibrations Pallida variegata Cat’s Eye Starwoman H...

    Old and Huge Peony Rhizome

My neighbor traded his peony for some of my perennials. Pictured is the peony rhizome I got from him. It is about 20 years old. Its flower is pink and I think it is Sarah Bernhardt. I saw it blooming last spring. I divided it and planted in different spots in the garden.
