    Drooping indoor cactus

I re-potted several cactus plants about a year ago. the tall straight one with fleshy spines is doing fine but the remaining 6 (in seperate pots) are a bit droopy and top-heavy looking. Could it be the potting soil? Could I simply put the plants – pots and all – into larger pots? I&#...

    passionfruit pockmarks

These passion fruit plants are about 3 yrs old. They are covered in fruit but all the fruit on the bottom half of the plants are marked with tiny light brown spots, while only 50 metres away passion fruit plants on a vacant property are looking fine and unmarked. Last year I sprayed neem oil to g...

    tomato seedlings getting large?

    Tomato 'Beefsteak' Repotted
I repotted some tomato seedlings into good compost in larger pots (as was suggested) and they are doing well. My problem is there is no room in the garden to transplant them until another plant has finished growing (another type of tomato). The pots are approx. 5″ × 5′ and the to...

    leggy tomato seedlings

    Tomato 'Beefsteak' Dying
Help! My tomato seedlings have gone all leggy. I sowed the seeds indoors in a container with about 2 cm. of seed mix. Perhaps the mix should have been deeper. Would it be OK to add a little potting compost? They are about 4 cm. apart and the height varies between 2 and 4 cm tall. My capsicum seed...

Vegetable plants that will grow in shade

I have a part of my vegie garden that gets very little sun. Which plants like shade? Last year I tried rock melon but just got a whole load of foliage. Thanks Ruth

    celery babies

    middle bit garden
Still pretty small but most have survived. Put each seedling in the garden inside half a toilet roll each. Surrounded each with crumbled eggshell to keep slugs and snails away.Propped a few twigs in the ground to provide shading and discourage birds insects from getting close.

    celery babies

    middle bit garden
my little celery plants are growing well but I hope I haven’t put them too close together in the pots when I come to transplant them. They are about 3/4 inch apart and oh so delicate looking. They have 1 or 2 true leaves at present.
