Mystery plant in my mystery bed
Mystery Bed 3 gardenMostly Cloudy 24°C / 75°FThis plant has been growing in my mystery bed at our new home. I asked my neighbor who help identify all the other plants and she thinks this may be a volunteer we want to pull. Anyone know what this is?

Overcast 21°C / 70°FI’m exhausted but wanted to post a quick journal about the progress of our raised beds for this year’s garden. They are all finally right-side-up but nowhere near level in their current location in our yard. Next steps are to level them all, add the hardware cloth, PVC for the row c...

Starting seeds for our new gardens!
Soil block gardenMostly Cloudy 3°C / 37°FFinally pulled together all my materials today and put some seeds in soil blocks. All the seed is older seed so I’m not certain of its viability but time will tell. Once the weather breaks I will be out in the yard putting in my raised beds. My preliminary plan can be found here and is st...

Mostly Cloudy 15°C / 59°FLast month my husband and I closed on a home nearby and moved. I’ve been working to close this garden up while unpacking and settling into our new home. The summer was not like our previous summers. We were unsettled for much of the summer while we waited for our closing and then while pa...

Rainy 21°C / 70°FI’m loving the red tulips more than I expected but am a little concerned that so few have grown from the 50 bulbs I planted last fall. Hopefully the weather will even out a little now and everything will thrive. 1. Blue Moon tulips 2. Red Oxford Darwin tulips 3. Lamb’s Ear has com...

It was another beautiful day here so I spent the majority of it outside once it warmed up. When Ginger and I got up at 5, it was a chilly 19 degrees for our walk. By 10:30 it was up to nearly 50 with a clear, blue sky and a light breeze.
I started by raking the leaves in the front yard to add t...

New pics attached for each harvest today in what I’m affectionately calling “The Colander Series”.
It was a rainy Labor Day here so I was inside most of the day. I had a lot of canning to do, all these pics to take for Harvest Day :-) and my husband was in classes all day so mo...

I’m trying again this year to see if I can manage to ferment some cucumbers into some lovely dill pickles. Last year I ended up with a moldy, spoiled mess so I’m hoping the later start and cooler temps will help produce a better product. After the salsa fiasco, my husband was concer...Cloudy 21°C / 70°F -

One of the things I’ve wanted to do since I put my garden in last year was to can some salsa for my husband and son to enjoy. I’m not a fan – too many onions – but I know they like it. On Sunday, I decided it was time to tackle the salsa after I put up three quarts of to...Cloudy 21°C / 70°F
