Mashmoom is becoming very old! 1 Herb Tower garden and Mashmoom Hardening Off
This is the longest surviving plant I have. It doesn’t look like it’s thriving in the picture (with my make-do dripping system of inverted water bottle with a small piercing) – but believe me it is very sturdy. It looks like basil – but it’s not. Smells like it as we...

    It's sowing time! 3
I have a wide array of gardening books, none of which tell me how to garden in the hot and dry weather of Riyadh! They have beautiful pics though and I use them for inspiration! Noticing by the timelines of successive seed sowing I did last year, this is just about the right time to sow my seeds ...

Why is it growing sooo sloww??? When am I going to have some lemons? 1 7 Neutral Lemon
I can remember this lemon tree sitting in my garden forever. I haven’t taken much care of it to be honest. Mainly watering it. I changed the pot back in April 2009 into (guess what) a nice lemon-yellow pot. It has become taller, but didn’t bear any flowers or fruit. that was it. no fe...

What do I do with my dried up compost? 1
I have stopped gardening since the harsh summer of the arabian dessert started. The neighbor’s cat went through my bags of compost without my noticing, and this had left my compost exposed till it completely dried up to rock shape! The vermiculite-based compost is doing fine, sort of became...

    Lots of scrubbing to do
Lately, none of the seeds i have been sowing have given any result. they either don’t germinate or they grow to weird forms of twisted leaves, i thought maybe the problem could be that i did not disinfect the pots before sowing the next batch. so eliminating that factor, i got the old wire ...

Well, they didn’t grow nicely, but at least i gave growing carrots a try. i tasted them.. they tasted bitter – like organic carrots. wonder what the supermarket type of carrots are fed with to taste and smell so nice?

I’ve just picked the biggest jasmine i’ve ever seen! They just flowered, no extra care taken. they seem to like the hot weather, and they’ve survived the dust storm. it is a small plant that i had since last year..

Depressed and Unhappy 1 2 Unhappy
My garden is not growing as vigorously as before. I thought I would have learnt a thing or two about gardening already.. One thing i admit i haven’t done is disinfecting the pots between uses. My plants have suffered a lot of diseases and i simply have gotten rid of the compost and topped u...
