    Plan Before You Plant

    Frontyard garden
Yesterday I took the first class of 3 I’m taking at Natorp’s . It was the “Plan Before You Plant” workshop, where you meet with one of their designers and they will help you plan a particular part of your yard. The class was broken up between 4 designers with 5 people from...

    Free Tree Day

Pecan Tree Sown and Lilies, Hyacinth, and Tulips Purchased
Yesterday was “free tree day” at the library, so I came home with a pecan tree! It’s now planted in the backyard. While at Costco today, we saw a ton of plants they had for sale. I couldn’t decide on a bush I wanted to take home (need to do some more research first since I...

    Getting things ready!

Last June we moved into a house. The yard needed (and still needs) a fair amount of work done, but we’re getting there! Last weekend Matt’s dad and brother came over and the three of them pulled out 11 bushes in the front yard. You can see the side of the house in the picture while th...

Thyme Dying and Container Herb garden
Seems like the thyme has died off. I don’t know what happened… it was doing fine – heck everything in the pot was doing fine, the basil, the sage and the rosemary. Not sure why the thyme suddenly started dying off and now it’s completely brown. Better luck next time, I ...

    Cucumbers!

Bush Crop Cucumber Fruiting and Vegetable Conainer garden
Two weeks ago (June 27th or so), the cucumbers started showing up. Now I’m losing count of how many I have! There’s so many growing now and I had to get a plant stand to help hold it up because it got so big. Guess two plants in one pot will do that :o)

    Flowers

Bush Crop Cucumber Flowering and Vegetable Conainer garden
The cucumber plantling has started to sprout flowers! It’s grown SO much in a short period of time. The bigger of the two plantlings has really taken off and I need to get it something to vine on. I’m thinking about splitting the two plants up to help the smaller one grow better, b...

    We have fruit!

Patio Tomato Fruiting and Vegetable Conainer garden
    - squee - This morning I spotted TWO little green tomatoes on this little plantling! I’m so excited about seeing fruit on this plant. I’ve been seeing flowers pop up here and there, but it was great to see those today :o) The only downside is that I still have these annoying gnat-li...

    Dreaming

I had a dream last night that my pepper plants died and that the tomato plants seemed like they were on their way, too. The peppers were brown and wilted. I was heart-broken about it! I think the cicada’s are getting to me as are the little gnat-like bugs hanging out at the bottom of my t...

    Impatiens and Flower Container garden
I don’t think they’re doing so well. Seems a lot of flowers have fallen off and not a whole lot of new ones sprouting :(
