Started my “cornmeal juice” today, 1 cup cornmeal in 1 gallon water. Will strain and begin spraying tomorrow. Hope this works!

Finally had a chance to really check the roses I’ve sprayed with the cornmeal liquid. It does appear to be working! One bush was so bad, I totally stripped it and pruned it. The new growth looks healthy, and it has several buds. The other bushes I treated for blackspot have healthy new growth also. No other bushes are showing signs of infection.
I will say, though, that I am going to dump this first batch of cornmeal liquid and make a new one. And the new one will be kept refrigerated! This first batch stinks! At the beginning it just smelled like corn, now it is a bit putrid.

What happened to global warming? April 18 and we are suddenly having hail, snow and below freezing temps. Spending the day moving all my hanging plants in closer to the house and mulching tender plants in the garden. Hoping they survive!

Sunshine today and I got ambitious! All the roses in my rose garden have been pruned. And I noticed that Mme Isaac has a bud already, pretty large, too, for April.

I’ve been working to make the backyard bird friendly. I was so excited to see a pair of Mourning Doves at my ground feeder, then in my birdbath this afternoon!
