My sweetie and I bought our first house together in late summer 2010. The first two things I did at our new house were to start a compost pile and plant some herbs. Prior to the house, we’d lived in one cave-like apartment after another (The light! It burns, my preciousssss!), so it had been years since I’d grown much beyond cat grass and cave-tolerant houseplants. I started a small in-ground veggie patch that first spring, which has already turned into raised beds (thanks, bunny invasion!) and doubled in size. Once you start, you can’t stop.

Right now I am mostly focused on learning more about growing veggies & native and/or drought-tolerant plants, as well as trying to put names to the plants that came with the house (preferably before I kill all of them!)
