Working full time is really making it hard to keep up with the gardening chores. I have the occasional day off, which almost always is a guaranteed day of rain! On a rare sunny weekend off, I got this bed cleared of last year’s stalks and found four new shoots for tonight’s supper.Clear 12°C / 54°F -

Overcast 16°C / 61°FI bought this bulb on sale in jan 2009’ planted it and it bloomed beautifully. Each year after it would put out it’s leaves and then die back, no bloom. I put the pot on the front porch through the summer and on a windowsill over the winter. This late fall when I brought it in it h...

You’ll just have to let me fill in the details so you can appreciate the humor of it all. It was a spring like day, sunny, temps nicely in the 60’s. I loo...

Annual spring cleaning of the bed
Asparagus and Asparagus bed gardenThe first hint of spring always makes me head outside and look for two things, daffodil shoots and the condition of the asparagus bed. I took some time to rake the mulch off the bed, and to edge it with a spade, it’s an eternal battle to keep grass from making the width of the bed smaller ...Sunny 17°C / 62°F -

I didn't know rosemary could bloom
windowsill gardenSunny 4°C / 40°FI guess is makes sense, most plants do bloom at some point. I’ve had this rosemary in a pot for three or four years now, can not remember when it was actually gifted to me. It was one of those rosemary potted plants that are trimmed to look like a small Christmas tree when I received it. ...

While cleaning up the porch plants and getting them ready for the move inside, I discovered that this was putting up shoots for leaves. I watered it, and within a week it had four very tall leaves. I staked them, and brought the plant inside.13°C / 56°F -
